In this month’s Employee Spotlight, we’re highlighting a former intern who has gone on to do amazing work full-time on our team. Kayla Pollok had a soft spot for Elevations early on. Like many freshmen at the University of Colorado Boulder, she opened an Elevations account during Fall Welcome.
On one visit to the campus branch during her junior year, she inquired with a teller about possible internships. Kayla applied and was accepted as our Corporate Risk intern. In this role, Kayla was immediately entrusted with work that directly aligned with her studies.
“As an intern, I didn’t just get coffee,” says Kayla. “All the work I did was meaningful and had an impact. I felt important.”
Kayla was able to continue working at Elevations during her senior year of college. “My team took the time to introduce me to systems and process,” she says. “These learning experiences were beneficial to me, whether or not I stayed with Elevations.”
After graduating, Kayla was able to take on a full-time position, and she currently works on vendor management by fine-tuning a program to manage hundreds of contracts annually, in addition to business continuity, where she determines processes and testing for disaster situations.
“Financial crimes always fascinated me,” says Kayla, “so I was lucky to get to work in the department that touched that as an intern.”
Outside of work, Kayla plays flute in a Boulder-based six-member melodic death metal band called Endlight.
Each year, Elevations hosts up to eight interns that support a variety of departments from Accounting, Wealth Management and Business Lending to Marketing and Corporate Risk. Learn more on our website.
