In this month’s employee spotlight, we’re featuring Mary Ann Kammerer, a leader with a unique career path that’s taken her around the country to ultimately end up in Colorado, a place she finds incredibly unique.
“I love Colorado for the beautiful mountains and weather,” she says. “I enjoy Denver and its sports teams, and I like to get outdoors and ski, hike and bike up in Winter Park with my family.”
How did Mary Ann end up working in Colorado at Elevations?
“The culture, people and progressive outlook make Elevations a place I enjoy working.”
Mary Ann began her career in financial services right out of college when she was living in Philadelphia. On a whim, she applied for a broker internship at Charles Schwab and Co., Inc. She wasn’t hopeful about getting the position, but got the call for an interview. She landed the internship and moved to San Francisco, where she began her career in financial services.
Mary Ann’s career developed as she obtained her Series 7 license and worked in Schwab’s branch network and in brokerage operations for many years at several locations like Baltimore and Orlando. In fact, Mary Ann was the first female branch manager for the company in the entire state of Florida!
Mary Ann grew into larger management roles, eventually moving to Denver as VP of the call center, where she led a team of 500 reports and 14 managers. She’d never considered working for a credit union until a job offer came across her desk for a position in Boulder. In 2003, Mary Ann joined the U of C Federal Credit Union, now Elevations Credit Union, and she’s helped lead the team here in a variety of roles since.
“I’ve driven from the Denver Tech Center to Elevations in Boulder for the past 13 years because of the culture,” says Mary Ann, Elevations’ Chief of Advisory Services. “We focus on the member, our colleagues are like family, and we have such a supportive and fun atmosphere.”
