At Elevations, our experienced Mortgage Loan Officers are here to help you navigate the homebuying process. One of our top-notch Mortgage Loan Officers, Chris Oxley, has been working in lending for nearly 20 years. Find out why he has stayed in the mortgage industry and how he approaches home lending.
How long have you been with Elevations?
I joined Elevations in October 2014. I am based in Longmont, and I serve the entire state of Colorado. After chatting with industry colleagues, my goal was to join the best mortgage company, which was then and still is, Elevations.
What was your experience before coming to Elevations?
My brother-in-law was a Mortgage Broker and suggested I become a Loan Officer. I owned my own mortgage company for six years and have been a Loan Originator in Longmont since 2001.
How would you define your role and what you do for people buying a home?
I help people to understand their financing options so that they can choose the mortgage that best fits their needs. I am very passionate about people, and this is a people business. I enjoy the relationships I build through my work.
What do you like about mortgage lending?
The relationships. I also like the diversity of my workday. I’m not tied to a desk all day and have the flexibility to move about around the community.
What sets Elevations apart from other financial institutions when someone is getting a mortgage?
Elevations is frequently voted the Best Mortgage Lender along the Front Range. Members continually thank me for such a smooth, seamless process. This is only possible because of the phenomenal mortgage team that Elevations has, from processors and loan officer assistants to underwriters, closers and the appraisal desk. Everyone has the same attitude and asks, “How can we make this happen?”
Elevations also has a reputation within the real estate industry that is second to none. Realtors® can rest assured that once a preapproval letter is issued, the transaction will close on time. Homebuyers may win out in multiple bid situations due to our reputation versus our competitors or out-of-state lending institutions.
Do you have any advice to consumers selecting a financial institution for a mortgage?
Look for knowledge, expertise, trusted guidance, value, and the ability to close smoothly and on-time. Most consumers do not realize that Elevations does not set mortgage interest rates; the financial markets do. So, the interest rate available should be about the same wherever you go. As a not-for-profit, there will be fewer fees attached to an Elevations-originated mortgage, plus our team is highly knowledgable and experienced.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up just outside London, UK. I did not like the long, dark winters in England and took some time off to visit Australia. On my travels, I met a gal from Longmont, and we have been together ever since, which brought me here.
Where did you go to school?
I went to school in High Wycombe, along with Howard Jones, and James Corden lived close by. Howard Jones was a few years ahead of me at the same school, but we would go to his gigs in local pubs. We were at the concert when he announced he had landed a record deal.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I usually end up doing chores and errands in my free time, or just relax.
What is your favorite local nonprofit?
Mountain States Children’s Home. I have volunteered with them, and I like the work they do and opportunities they provide to underprivileged children, many of whom come from broken homes and unstable backgrounds.
What is your favorite local restaurant?
Flavor of India in Longmont. They are doing takeout and delivery currently. I get their Chicken Tikka Masala.
What do you sing at karaoke night?
The Rolling Stones — (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction. I formed a Beatles/Stones tribute band after leaving school.
