After more than 70 years of supporting the University of Colorado Boulder, Elevations is giving fans a new way to show their CU spirit through a credit card made just for Buffs®. The Go Buffs® Visa® Signature Rewards Credit Card supports CU student-athletes while helping fans earn benefits that are fit for Buffs®.
The story of CU and ECU
Elevations Credit Union has a rich history intertwined with the University of Colorado Boulder. Founded in 1952 as the U of C Federal Credit Union on the steps of Macky Auditorium with 12 members and less than $100 in assets to serve the financial needs of CU Boulder staff and faculty.
As the official credit union of CU Boulder, Elevations proudly supports over 20,300 members who are CU students, faculty, staff, and alumni and continues to support the university community in many ways.
Bolstering the Buffs® with every swipe
Elevations is excited to announce a new chapter to the Elevations-CU relationship. The only official credit card of CU Athletics, The Go Buffs® Visa® Signature Rewards Credit Card offers fans the chance to earn top-tier points while supporting CU student-athletes. The $49 annual fee and 2¢ per use go CU student-athletes through NIL.
Cardholders also enjoy 3% cash back for spending with select CU merchants, including CU merch from Fanatics.com, the CU Bookstore in Boulder and the Buff Team Store. That’s in addition to a cash back offer for all purchases, a 25,000-point offer for new cardholders, and a 0% intro rate on balance transfers. Plus, Elevations cardholders get free popcorn at CU home football and basketball games.
The card joins Elevations’ existing CU products, including the Forever Buffs® checking account for alumni, the Buff One Visa credit card and Buff One student checking account.
Cheering on the CU community
Elevations Credit Union is deeply involved in the CU Boulder community. Recently, the credit union opened seven savings accounts for CU student-athletes with children, in collaboration with Coach Deion “Prime” Sanders. Elevations contributed $2,121 to each account, a nod to the number 21 Sanders wore during his own football career. He pledged to match the amount.
As a title-level sponsor (and the original sponsor) of the Buffalo Bicycle Classic since its inception in the early 2000s, Elevations helps raise money for CU scholarships. These scholarships provide $3,000 per academic year and have raised more than $3.9 million for scholarships since starting in 2003.
There’s even an Elevations branch inside the University Memorial Center (UMC) at CU Boulder — campus tours often start right there. In 2023, Elevations supported 34 CU Boulder events, including new employee lunches and educational seminars. They also sponsored Grad Bash, attended by 2,200 graduating seniors.
Elevations has a long-standing, meaningful relationship with CU Athletics. The credit union is typically present at CU home football games, where Elevations members can enjoy free popcorn by showing their Elevations cards. Each year, Elevations is also proud to sponsor one home CU basketball and football game.
Support through scholarships
Elevations Credit Union is committed to supporting education through various scholarship programs and currently supports $100,000 in CU scholarships, in addition to $75,000 for pre-collegiate scholarships for first-generation college-goers. Elevations also supports DE&I programs and mental health programs on campus.
The Elevations Credit Union Faculty/Dependent Scholarship and Elevations Scholars at CU are just a few examples. Additionally, the Round Up program helps support scholarships, and the Buffalo Bicycle Classic raises funds for CU scholarships.
Elevations Credit Union’s partnership with CU Boulder is a testament to their dedication to the university community. Through innovative products, community involvement and scholarship support, Elevations continues to make a positive impact on CU Boulder and its members.
