The Local Change Foundation awards $120,000 in scholarships

The Local Change Foundation* awarded $120,000 in scholarships to 24 soon-to-be Colorado high school graduates. This is the largest amount the foundation has awarded in one year.

All Local Change scholarship recipients have a proven track record in academics and community engagement. With 67% being first-generation college students and with the group’s household income averaging $65,000, the recipients are very well deserving.

“I am extremely honored and grateful to be selected,” said scholarship recipient Kaylie Jensen. “This scholarship will make a huge difference in my education and in my life, and I am so thankful for your investment in my future.”

The scholarship recipients live in these Front Range cities: Aurora, Boulder, Centennial, Denver, Erie, Fort Collins, Highlands Ranch, Johnstown, Lafayette, Longmont, Louisville and Superior.

“Awarding these scholarships is one of the highlights of my year,” said Jennifer Hinderliter, director of Elevations Foundation. “For many students, a gift like this is a vote of confidence in their abilities that they very much need.”

Since 2010, Local Change Foundation has provided $849,950 in scholarship funds. The increase in scholarship funds awarded this year is thanks to partnerships with private donors. Donating to the foundation is a seamless way for individuals and donors to fund scholarships without needing to run their own scholarship programs.
