Meet Patrick, a CFS* Wealth Management Advisor at Elevations

At Elevations, we’re here to help our members prepare financially for the future, whatever their income or goals might be. That’s why we give our members access to a team of Wealth Management Advisors through CUSO Financial Services, LP (“CFS*”). Learn more about Patrick Seal, CFP®, who has been at Elevations since 2004.

Most people don’t start working with the stock market at age 10, but Patrick Seal’s fifth-grade year was anything but typical. In the ’70s, his dad and a colleague developed a computer program to predict stock prices, and Patrick was part of the team. Patrick had a little office in his bedroom and would call the stock market every Friday to get the high, low and closing stock prices on 500 stocks for his dad’s computer data collection. Being a kid who loved math, Patrick asked his dad what the numbers really meant. When his dad explained that people made money on stocks by buying low and selling high, Patrick was incredulous.

“Is that a job?” he asked.

“In fact,” said his dad, “it’s a good job.”

Thus began Patrick’s interest in business, investing and learning how to decode the complex world of finance.

Patrick went on to study International Finance at Metropolitan State University and now has worked in wealth management for 27 years, starting at Elevations in 2004. As a fifth-generation Coloradan, Patrick is passionate about supporting others in his community. “The reason I came to Elevations is because we work with everyone,” says Patrick. “It’s community based. I didn’t want to go to a firm where if you didn’t have a million dollars, you couldn’t be a client. I was brought up to be part of the community.”

What Patrick enjoys most about being a financial advisor is making complicated concepts simple and helping people apply smart financial practices to their everyday lives. “I like to help people identify where they are and exactly where they want to go with their finances—and then give them a step-by-step systematic approach to get there,” he says.

He kicks off any new client meeting with a genuine interest in learning what his clients care most about and the challenges they’re facing. “I am truly interested in people and their stories,” he says. Patrick’s clients have a range of needs from figuring out how to invest extra money sitting in their savings account to saving for short-term goals, retirement, college and more.

When he’s not working, Patrick and his wife love to scuba dive, making it a point to explore several diving spots a year. “My wife being able to dive was kind of a prerequisite for us to even start dating,” he jokes. He also enjoys cultivating his culinary skills. “I’m now learning how to smoke meat and am on my third, more sophisticated meat smoker.” His favorite restaurant is The Cork in Boulder.

Apart from his hobbies, spending time with family, and helping others with their finances, one thing that makes Patrick smile is his dog, Maggie. “She’s a Corgi — she’s goofy. She always looks like she has a smile on her face,” he laughs.
